Many of the goat trails are wandering trails that were originally horseback riding trails for the Desert Riders.
There is one place where the trail is steep. At the beginning of the hike, the elevation gain is 500 ft. That portion of gain is within a one hike. The rest of the hike is small rolling hills then mostly down to our parked cars. Very few obstacles on the trial. This is a mostly a wide open trial. We will make our way to a small oasis called Jane’s Hoffbrau Oasis. We will return back to our cars a our visit to the Oasis.
Due to the Elevation gain:
1. Non Hikers- Do not join us on this hike for you won't be able to walk for a week.
2. Causal hikers (those that have done- Andreas, Palm Canyon, Whitewater, Vargas, Bob Hopes House hikes)- Should do ok, but you might huff and puff up one steep portion of the hike
3. Those who love the Bump and Grind hikers, you will do fine.
4. Those who have hiked Wellman's Divide, San Jancinto Peak, and Devil's Slide trails, this will be a walk in the park
The first mile is 550ft elevation gain.
Very few obstacles on the trial. The trail is mostly a wide open trial.
Down right awesome views of Palm Springs and Cathedral City at night.
Park your car within the Vons parking lot rather than the dirt road access to the trail. I feel your car will be safer at night in Vons parking lot.
HOW TO REACH THE TRAIL ONCE YOU PARK:
Walk over to the trail.
To get your positioning from the trail- Look directly at the Vons or shops next to Vons. Walk to the Left (East) of Vons passing the shops as you walk within the parking lot to South Broadmoor Rd. Turn right on South Broadmoor and walk down the road that goes to the back of Vons and quickly turns into a dirt road. We will be meet at the gate.
Park at Vons just before 8:30 a.m. We will begin our hike at 8:30 am at the meeting gate where the trail begins. If you are late you will need to try to catch up.
WHAT TO BRING:
Water 2 litters
You may bring your dogs. They must be dog friendly and people friendly. Must bring a bag for dog waste. Please lease your dog especially if there are other dogs on the trail.
