Hi Group, I am doing a special hike this year to the Ancient Fish Trap near the community of Santa Rosa.....Sounds far? Not really. It is on the edge of Indio. This is a special area that 400 to 500 years ago the Native Americans used the rocks to capture fish from Lake Cahuilla. To be honest most people would not be able to notice the fish traps, but once they are pointed out you will see them clearly.

The hike is only open to yearly members. It Is important this area remain protected and group size needs to remain small.  I also request the group not post on facebook the area.  Too much damage has occurred from visitors who don't have the same respect for an area as we do.

The hike is only a mile and is relatively easy.
This hike is only for yearly members thus the reason you are getting this invite directly from me and not from Distance 2B Traveled. The area in my mind is fragile. People could easily destroy it beyond those who have already detracted from its original use.

While this hike will be short we will do another short easy hike in the area. So figure about a 45 minute hike and then about 1 hours hike at another location.

I will have the history on the place and its early inhibits to share with you.

For those on the west end the Coachella Valley
meet me at McDonalds in Thousand Palm across from In and Out at 8:30 am.
