JACOB LAKE GROUP  CAMP
The facility offers ramadas, grills, tables, pit toilets and water. Jacob Lake (there is no lake) Recreation Area is very accessible. It is located on 89A, a paved U.S. highway, yet set far enough back from the road to provide privacy. The roads within the campground are gravel. The facility is across the street from Jacob Lake Inn, which has a restaurant, gas station, gift shop and limited groceries, and the Kaibab Plateau Visitor Center. The nearest full facilities are 30 to 40 miles away in Fredonia, Arizona and Kanab, Utah.
1. pit toilets
2. The campground is beautiful, very wooded with pines
3. Coin-op showers at a private RV campground a couple miles away (anyone can use them).
4. Jacob Lake (there is not lake) is at an elevation of 7,920 feet so it can be cold at night.
5. Reviews note that cell coverage can be spotty depending on plans.
6. SOME OF THE HIKES REQUIRE PERMITS AND SOME AREA LIKE ANTELOPE CANYONS REQUIRE BOOKING AND PAYMENT.
7. Plenty of parking 30 cars and space for 100 people. I am only taking 30...
8. Easy access to camping area.
9. No need to carpool, but when we are going to our hiking locations the parking is limited and there are dirt roads to some of our hiking trails.
