Dry Lake Hike is amazing!
No it is not dry lake at San Jacinto. This one is on San Gorgonio.
It is not dry due to all the snow this winter.
It is also a difficult hike. This adventure reminds me of our hikes near Mammoth, Ca.
I have a permit for only 12.

The trailhead is about20 minute drive from Big Bear.
But you need to know the following?
This is an all day event.
It is difficult
It is 11.7 miles
It is a 2500 ft elevation gain and drop
The hike takes about 6 hours from start to finish
The hike goes to beautiful seculded lake, but there are many portions of the trail in full sun.
from 6 am to 6 pm. Time duration includes, driving and hiking.
This is a difficult hike from the Santa River to Dry Lake (which currently is full of water).

Before 6 am...6am departure.
PARKING PASS REQUIRED
Park in the big lot on the left across from the South Fork trail. A National Forest Service Adventure Pass ($5 for a day or $30 for the year) is required for parking here. Click here to purchase. You could display "America The Beautiful Pass instead of National Forest Pass in your window.
