WELLMANS DIVIDE WITH WILLIAM DWYER

Saturday July 15

Arrive before 7:30 am at the Lobby within the Tramway Bottom Station

Jason off to Europe....no hikes  [🙁] . NO WAY
Join William Dwyer on a difficult hike to conquer Wellmans Divide.

This is a members only adventure.

This is not an easy hike. It kind of like doing the Lykken Trail except you are starting at the top of the tram and then climbing 1000ft.
This is a there and return same way hike.
Look for William at the bottom base station ticket lobby. William is pictured above.

Be at the Tram Station by. 7:30 am
Conquer Wellman's.
Wellman's Divide is the incline that stands in your way from all the other hikes. If you can do Wellman's than you can probably do the rest.
The good news is one can turn around at any point if it is too difficult.

THE TRIP:
TIME is based on: Meeting, Riding the Tram and Hike
The view from Wellmans divide is truly spectacular and worth the effort of getting there. Looking west you can see the dome of the Palomar Observatory and to the southwest Tahquitz Peak Lookout.

TRAIL RATING:
This trail is moderate to difficult. Difficult due to elevation gain and miles.

TRAIL CONDITION:
Dirt Path, Some sand and rock places on the trail. Watch your step.
MILES ROUND TRIP:
Under 7 miles

ELEVATION:
1000ft elevation gain.
The one mile section from Round Valley to Wellman's is 600ft gain...yes that is difficult, but the views are awesome

WEATHER
Keep an eye on the weather. Summer rains can make that area very dangerous.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
This hike is streneous in the beginning due to Wellman's Divide which is 900ft gain within 1 mile from 8100 to 9000 elevation.
